About Titleshots
At a certain I got some complaints from members about the amount of titleshots, and I came across a suggestion that some of our members could be more favoured than others. Of course I am not happy that some people feel like this, because that's not a great direction for a company.
The said members still left the company, though I did show them this policy, but they either didn't read it at all, or weren't agreeing with it because this answer would not satisfy a demand immediately, or they had a different reason they didn't tell. I think the explanation is not unclear, though, but suggestions are always welcome.
Everyone else, please read our 'rules' on titleshots.
About titleshots in general.
---------------------------------------
I hope to avoid any confusion by explaining how i distribute them.
It could be wise to read the FAQ (that's why I ask people to do that when they enter) on this matter, but I'll give you guys a more detailed explanation.
I try not to favour anyone, because that would be bad for a company. WCWF should be for everyone. Luckily many people do understand that, and proof for me is that some of you stay with me for years without binding contracts.
Everyone gets his initial titleshot in order of appearance in the company anyway (by now all new members should have had one). To which title you get the shot depends on how many new people enter the company in a small amount of time.
Normally only these titles will be used: Florida Ladies, Western States (lv 51+), Junior Heavyweight (50 or lower) In case of abundance of new members, I can do two things: use only the 3 available titles and make everyone wait for weeks, or speed up the process and give people a titleshot at the random titles (asian, canadian, latin, and soon Internet) or even the TV title. It means they will for that moment lose their shot at the other title, JR, WSH or Florida. I chose the last option.
That does, however, mean that some people still needed to wait for their initial shot. And that in the meantime some people seemed to get a second titleshot before they get their first one.
What does happen is that at the same time members will also win a tournament or a random selection (both are not things i can manipulate, and if I could I would not), so it happens that people have
a) their first shot
b) can be lucky to be randomly selected
c) win a tournament
d) some already won titleshot certificates they cash in
e) people are in this company longer than you and are higher in the
rankings
Then they would get 3, maybe 4 shots in a short time, while others are not that lucky at the moment, but they probably will be next time.
(If I see that it does not happen for some time, i'll add some titleshots myself, but then again, that's only a second option, because I prefer a more fair (=random) way).
Note: upon re-entry in the company you will receive a titleshot for a title that's used for all new competitors. It is not possible to get a titleshot at the major titles (Legends, World, Women's World, World Tag, US, European, TV, Mid-Atlantic, British, National, Texas State, State of Oregon, Hardcore, Extreme) upon your first week of re-entering in WCWF.
Not even if you won this titleshot in a tournament while you were inside or outside of WCWF. After that week you are free to cash in that titleshot (certificate), provided there is no pending titleshot for that same title. If so, you will be the first in line. Having left the company in the time the tournament ran (assuming you informed the GM about it) gives you a right to claim the titleshot if you win.
If, upon leaving, you were a champion you have forfeited the title, and it will be most likely that there is a tournament going on or finished to choose a new champion.
So you will earn titleshots by:
--------------------------------------------
1) getting high in the rankings (the bug in WU recently ruined this, so very soon I will implement the brands, when we have at least 80 active members. Then more titles will be available and the rankings will be at least divided into two).
2) winning tournaments that either go for a titleshot or a titleshot certificate, or some special item. That does mean that you need to actually join a tournament. I'd love to see more people do this. If I do it myself I make 'round' tournaments (8, 16, 32 members), and I look at the least days inactivity. Then you could be not in it.
3) getting randomly selected. Happens a lot (I think) in this company: you will then be in a 5-minute round robin, where your position, randomly selected by the Wrestler Unstoppable program counts. Sometimes more people are chosen and they have to win a small tournament afterwards.
4) Sometimes I give out titleshots too. And they are based on the fact that I see that someone has not had a titleshot for a while. I used to do that by heart, when WCWF was still small, but now it gets bigger, and as I said we're heading for at least 80-90 members, I'm setting up a list for that, to remember who did and who didn't get one lately, Here of course is a lot of room for mistakes, but I'll try to do this the best way I can.
This way I'm thinking of WCWF as a fair company, and ofcourse there is still a lot to do to make this comany better, but it's a start. If I notice that people aren't happy this way, I will try to listen and improve.
What I will not do
----------------------------------------------
I do understand that everyone would love to be a world champion, and that some might want to get a titleshot at that upon entrance, but that's not gonna happen.
In WCWF there's a slight hierarchy in the titles, and with the brands structure that will be enhanced. It will be more RPG like.
This means that to become a World Champion by then you need to earn the highest titles of the brand first (United States, National Heavyweight, European, Mid-Atlantic).
At this moment those titles are (mostly) ranking based, and that will remain the same.
There will even be a crossbrands Legends Title, that can only won by (former) World Champions
Other titles are a bit easier to get, but still not too easy I think. Those are the random titles, that can be achieved when you are randomly selected (Canadian, Asian, Latin, Internet).
Then we have also some special titles that (can) have their own requirements (Texas State, Oregon, Pacific etc).
So WCWF will not give anyone who just asks for it a shot at the World Title, bcause then we would have, say we have 70 members, ten shots a day, so everyone has a titleshot every week. And then about 350 others for all the titles.
I don't know if that would be a good option, so I better don't do that. Of course it goes for the other titles as well. You guys would not like it. It would make the company boring. I guess I do not need to explain any further.
What will not help
-----------------------------
This is something that I have seen in other companies, and I'm lucky enough that it did not happen in WCWF sofar. If it would I would be forced to take action.
It is of course not bad to let a GM know he did not give you a titleshot for a while. I would even encourage you guys to do that, because I'm only human and forget things.
But: in other companies people constantly nagged about being unfairly treated and not getting shots etc. and that's agreat way to piss off a GM. Some of the GM's got tired of that. I would also.
Sometimes people started to pick on eachother and accuse eachother of being the teacher's pet. Won't be really helping, and it will ruin the spirit of a company. A company should be fun to be in.
You can probably think of many other ways that will be annoying, so don't.
To conclude
------------------
I hope you guys, after reading this, understand why I make certain choices, and that it is almost impossible to please everyone all the time. I try to come as close to that as possible.
I hope also that you guys agree with me, because that's the way I think WCWF works best and generates the maximum of fun (because that's basically all WU should be) for everyone.
I hope that you guys also will give me a break sometimes when it's not going like you wanted or planned. Of course I'll listen to everyone's wishes and I tried and still try to accomplish them the best way I can.
